Commenting on a planning application

If you would like to comment on a planning application, West Northamptonshire Development Corporation advises you to read the following information prior to submitting your comment.

Please ensure that your comments are relevant to planning issues. Unfortunately comments on non-planning matters cannot be considered. Please note we cannot respond individually to specific questions or points raised, although they will be taken into account.

In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and Data Protection Act 1998, and other legislation, the public has a right to inspect all papers connected with an application. When submitting a comment on a planning application to WNDC, we will record your name, address and comments. Your name and address will be published, along with any comments you make, in the public planning register, which is available in hard copy and online.

Comments you make on an application may be made available for viewing on the Corporation’s website in the future.

You therefore may wish to take the following steps to avoid unnecessary publication of your personal details.

  • Do not provide a signature - your name is required but should be printed
  • Do not include any telephone numbers
  • When corresponding by email, send your views as an attachment, thus avoiding publication of your email address
  • However, your postal address must be provided

Copies of applications, plans and other documents submitted are available for inspection here, or at the WNDC Planning Department, Franklins Gardens, Weedon Road, Northampton, NN5 5RW. The offices are open between the hours of 10.00 - 12.00 and 14.00 - 16.00.
