Welcome to WNDC – West Northamptonshire Development Corporation. Through our website you can learn about who we are and what we do. Our role is to promote and deliver new jobs, homes and investment in the three towns of Northampton, Daventry and Towcester.

Established by government in 2004, we one of only three Urban Development Corporations in the UK and the only one outside London. We have a wide range of powers including:

• Investment – So far WNDC has invested over £70 million in the regeneration of Northampton, Daventry and Towcester, with major regeneration schemes underway in all three town centres.
• Development – WNDC has a range of specialist development powers, including the ability to acquire, manage and sell land and property, together with powers to develop, invest and provide business support.
• Planning - WNDC previously had the responsibility to determine strategic planning applications in its area of operation. During our time as a planning authority, we approved over 6,000 new homes and nearly 2 million sq m of commercial development, creating thousands of new jobs. In April 2012, these planning powers were transferred to the local authorities.
