Welcome to the planning information
pages. At WNDC we want to create high quality and sustainable
development. WNDC was set up by the Secretary of State
under the provisions of the Local Government Planning and Land Act
1980 (LGPLA) and has an explicit objective "to secure the
regeneration of its area" (S136 LGPLA). The Act provides that it
may do so in a number of different ways including making decisions
on planning applications.

WNDC is responsible only for
specified types of planning applications in the Town Centre of
Northampton and the "Urban Development Areas" of Daventry,
Towcester and Northampton. In the town centre area of
Northampton however, WNDC is responsible for a wider range of
proposals and apart from householder planning applications,
telecommunications proposals, advertisement consent and listed
building/conservation area consent for most types of application
will be determined by WNDC.
