Daventry
What is the vision for Daventry?
Between now and 2021, Daventry’s population is planned to rise
from just over 20,000 to 40,000. The opportunity to capitalise on
this growth has never been greater. West Northamptonshire
Development Corporation has already allocated over £6 million to
the first phase of the town centre regeneration as part of a £100
million package delivered with Daventry District Council,
Northamptonshire County Council and the private sector. Special
consideration is being given to high quality design, the
environment and energy use, sustainability and a fresh landscape
with inviting public spaces. WNDC is committed to working with our
partners to help maintain Daventry as a prosperous and successful
town with a distinctive identity.
The new, revitalised Daventry will be able to maintain its
historic charm whilst also emerging as a bustling town with much
improved shopping facilities housed in modern, attractive
centres. Road improvements, further retail outlets, car parking, a
unique learning quarter and an innovation centre in support of
sustainable construction technologies will also enhance the town.
Transforming the infrastructure of Daventry will not just restore
its character and energy, it will create thousands of new jobs and
homes.
The planning applications
WNDC is likely to receive several major planning applications
over the next few months as part of the Town Centre Regeneration
activities and at that point will invite the public to send their
comments to us.
It is important that Daventry’s heritage is respected whilst
retail, employment and housing opportunities are improved for
current and future residents. West Northamptonshire Development
Corporation wants to ensure Daventry’s residents are informed about
each step of the developments.

What’s currently happening in the Daventry town centre
regeneration?
Following the WNDC-funded reconfiguration of the roundabout at
Eastern Way, construction of the retail park on the edge of the
town centre has been completed. The site which will home the iHub
building is also being prepared, whilst key areas in the town
centre have been purchased by WNDC and Daventry District Council to
enable construction of new shopping facilities to begin in 2009.
Both organisations are committed to delivering the vision of a
lively and thriving town.
The future of Daventry looks bright based on the regeneration plans
developed by WNDC, Daventry District Council and Northampton County
Council.
