Major improvements to the existing transport network are required to support the delivery of new jobs, homes and investment in the South West District of Northampton.
WNDC has worked with the Homes and Communities Agency and Northamptonshire County Council to deliver three new roads in the area, which together, will enable new development and help improve transport flows in the town as a whole.
Upton Valley Way North was the first of these roads to be completed and opened in December 2008. It runs in a broadly north/south direction about 800m east of Kislingbury and crosses the River Nene, the Nene Way footpath and Camp Lane. It connects the A45 Weedon Road with the A45 Upton Way/ Danes Camp Way. Using intelligent design and environmentally friendly techniques, the road also contributes to the Upton Flood attenuation scheme.
WNDC was the planning authority for the road. It was jointly funded by the Homes and Communities Agency and the Government’s Community Infrastructure Fund.
In April 2009, the road won a CEEQUAL Award in recognition of its high quality design and environmental credentials.
