Following on from Upton Valley Way North and the Sandy Lane Relief Road, this project involves the construction of a 1.8km single carriageway between the A428 Harlestone Road and Berrywood Road.
The existing Sandy Lane carries approximately 7,500 vehicles a day. It is a narrow road used by lorries and unsuitable for the level of existing traffic. This new road will alleviate pressure on Sandy Lane, while combining with the other new roads in the area to support the growth and transformation of south west Northampton.
WNDC has committed £1.9 million to the new road, with £4.3million being contributed by the Homes and Communities Agency, and £1 million coming from the County Council.
Construction commenced in February 2010, with the road expected to be complete and open to traffic in January 2011.
