In 2009, WNDC invested £500,000 in Northampton’s Connect2 Greenways scheme, helping to provide 4 km of new walking and cycling routes along Northampton’s River Nene.
The scheme, which was also funded by the Big Lottery, is helping to re-connect the river to the lives of everyday people and support the overall regeneration of Northampton’s waterside.
The new waterside network will encourage more active lifestyles and runs along the river from Upton Way to Cotton End with further routes extending to St James Road and Danes Camp Way.
Phase one was finished in Spring 2009. The second phase will be complete in 2010, and will provide a sustainable basis for future development in the area, providing new jobs, homes and leisure attractions.
