The Pineham development is a hive of commercial activity in the South West of Northampton. Located to the north of the M1 Junction 15A and to the south of Upton, Pineham will be home to almost 2 million sq ft of commercial development.
WNDC is the planning authority for the area and has been working closely with partners to secure high quality, environmentally friendly development.
A number of units have already been completed including Sainsbury’s award winning ‘zero carbon’ distribution centre. The 620,000 sq ft building is widely recognised as one of the most environmentally friendly buildings of its kind in Europe, and is and is up to 75 per cent more energy-efficient than a standard facility. It has a number of interesting features including wall-mounted photovoltaic panels that generate electricity; solar panels that produce heat from sunlight, and an on-site combined heat and power plant.
Alongside this commercial development, there are proposals to build up to 625 new homes on land towards the north of Pineham. It would include community facilities, a local centre and a primary school. An outline planning application for the Pineham residential area is being determined by WNDC.
