New Daventry Scout Hut
New Daventry Scout Hut Opened
The 2nd Daventry Scouts have finally moved into their new
headquarters in Daventry Park. The new state of the art Scout
hut in Daventry has now been completed and officially opened. The
official opening was opened on the 13th June 2009, when a number of
activities took place. The building has solar panels that will
provide hot water, the walls are insulated with sheep’s wool, while
rainwater from the roof is stored and recycled for flushing
toilets.
The new headquarters was funded by Daventry District Council and
WNDC, which are working closely together to deliver the town centre
vision – ambitious plans to develop the heart of Daventry. The
building was designed by Badby Architects G4 Design and built by
Milton Keynes Pauley Construction. The building is designed to sit
comfortably in the landscape, and utilises local stone for the
gabion walls, English grown Douglas Fir cladding and has a sedum
roof that will encourage wildlife.
