Northampton is Alive….ma’am

It can’t have escaped your notice that local partners have been practically shouting from the rooftops about Northampton’s regeneration plans. And why not? There’s certainly plenty to talk about.

Much of this activity has been under the banner of ‘Northampton Alive’ – a campaign which is raising awareness of the exciting town centre schemes that are on the horizon.

I think it says a lot about the town that the initiative has narrowed in on 15 main projects – there’s an array of other developments that could have been included, and will no doubt be covered in future.

The campaign is being delivered with local partners, particularly Northampton Borough Council. In order to spread the message wide and far, it encompasses the full communications mix, from digital platforms, such as a 3D virtual model of the town, to exhibitions and events.

Last week, the latest venue for the Northampton Alive exhibition was the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Picnic at Burghley House in Stamford. Around 10,000 people from neighbouring counties were at the open air event, set in the stunning grounds of England’s greatest Elizabethan house.

Needless to say, her majesty was the star attraction. However, when they weren’t waving flags or enjoying the rare British sunshine, the lucky guests took their chance to visit the exhibition area.

At times, the Northampton Alive marquee was full at the seams. Visitors ranging from school children to business people had a glimpse of Northampton’s future, and shared their views. Now I know what you’re going to ask, but no – unfortunately, the Queen didn’t have time to visit the exhibition. Oh well, there’s always the Platinum Jubilee….
